Savusauna
The Savusauna is often referred to as the original form of the wood-heated sauna. In the absence of an exhaust pipe, the smoke during the heating phase of the stone heater must escape through special openings on the edge of the roof, in the upper part of the wall, the door and leaks in the walls.
Bathing takes place only after the fire has gone out and the soot infusion has taken place. Of course, the soot settles everywhere and has to be washed off before using the sauna. The necessary heat then comes from the stones of the heater. The climate is described as mild. The sauna gets its special aroma from the smell of wood smoke.
